Bet Types

Accumulator

An accumulator is a name for any accumulative bet with more than three selections. It can also be called a Multi or an All up.

All Up

A basic Multiple bet combining 2 - 25 legs. All of your selections must win for your bet to be a winner. (Can also be called a Multi bet or Accumulator).

Boxed Betting

A betting style where you want all possible combinations to finish in any order. Mainly a Racing used term.

Bet Slip

Where you put your selections and enter your stake before confirming your bet.

Betting Without

This will mean a market without a certain selection or multiple selections, named in the market itself (for example Betting Without Richmond). Often would refer to the favourite but may not if the SP favourite is different to the favourite at the time that the market was established. The final position of the excluded selection is disregarded for settlement purposes.

Dead Heat

A dead heat refers to an outcome where two or more competitors are tied for the same position. In this instance, your bet is settled under the dead heat rules for that event. You can check this out here,

Deductions

When a runner is scratched for a Racing event after the declaration of final fields, deductions will be made on fixed priced bets placed. You can check out our deductions table here. These deductions will be a percentage of the price taken and depend on the price of the scratched runner(s). Deductions may also apply to sports events. Deductions are worked out as follows:
Stake X Odds = Potential Return
Potential Return X Deductions = Deduction Amount
Potential Return - Deduction Amount = PAYOUT

Dogs

A common term for Greyhound racing.

Double

A single bet with two selections. The winnings from the first selection are placed on the second selection. Both selections must win to get a return. (Can also be called an All up or Multi bet).

Each Way

An Each way (also known as E/W) bet comprises 2 bets: A Win bet and a Place bet. For example, a $5 Each way bet will have a total stake of $10 made up of a $5 Win bet and a $5 Place bet. The win and place prices will be displayed separately.

Early Prices (Pre-Post)

Early Prices or Pre-Post prices are Fixed odds for races where the final field has been declared. Available for Win/Place betting on Australian racing and selected international and feature races.

Exclusion Rule/Related Multi (Multi Bets)

You may find that there are some bets you cannot combine on the bet slip into Multi bets. This may be because the bets are related. For example, you cannot place a double on Collingwood to beat Hawthorn in a single match into Collingwood to win the flag.

Exacta

An Exacta requires you to correctly select the two runners that finish 1st and 2nd in a race in the correct order. You can also choose to Box these.

Favourite

The favourite is the outcome, runner, athlete or team in a= market that has the lowest odds/shortest price.

Final Field

Final Field comprises the final acceptors as advised by the controlling Race Club. No runners can be added to the race from this point and deductions may apply to fixed odds bets if any runners are scratched after the Final Field is declared.

First Four

A winning First Four bet requires you to pick the first four finishers in a single race, in correct order. You can also choose to Box these.

Fixed Odds

You have the choice of locking in the odds you take by taking the fixed price quoted for any racing event where fixed odds are offered. All sports events are offered on a Fixed-odds basis. Please note deductions may apply to Fixed-odds racing bets if a runner is scratched after you place your bet

Futures / Ante post

Future Racing prices are Fixed Odds for races where the final field has not been declared.

Please note: Futures bets made before the final field has been declared are ALL IN bets, meaning that if your selected runner does not start the race your bet is resulted in a loss unless otherwise stated on the individual bet.

Half Time/Full Time

Also known as double result, this is a bet where you must predict the outcome at half time and at full time.

Harness

The official name for Trots racing.

Head-to-Head

A straight two-way market offered in sports; a head-to-head bet is simply one team to beat the other.

In-Play

A term referring to an event which has started and is in-play (Can also be called Live betting, In running).

Jockey Challenge

Jockey Challenge is a daily bet on Jockeys racing that day at a particular track. The winning jockey is decided on a 3, 2, 1 point scoring system, with jockeys finishing first in a race awarded 3 points, 2nd awarded 2 points and 3rd 1 point. The jockey with the most points after all races are completed will be settled as the winner. Win only betting, each way or place betting is not offered on Jockey Challenges. Joint Favourites

When two or more horses/players/selections share the shortest price at the start of the event.

Line Bet

Line bet or handicap bet is a bet which provides one team with a head start, e.g. If you bet on Hawthorn (-17.5), and Hawthorn won by 18 points, then Hawthorn would win that bet.

Live Betting

Refers to betting on an event that is in play. Also known as betting in the run or in running. Live betting is the term used to describe bet's that can be placed after the match, race, or event has started.

Margin Betting

Margin betting is where you pick the winning margin on an event between two teams.

The margins are set by the bookmaker and are usually as follows:

  • AFL: 1-39, 40+ and draw

  • Rugby League and Union: 1-12, 13+ and draw

  • Basketball: 1-10, 11+

When a draw option is offered for Margin betting, it will exclude any extra time that might be played.

Money Line

Refers to one specific team winning the game (Also called Head-to-Head)

Multi Bets

A Multi bet is combining a selection of single bets together, in effect multiplying your bet. Multi bets can also be called a Multiple bet, All Up, Accumulators or Parlay. Multi bets can be from 2 to 25 legs.

Non-Runner/Scratching

If your selection is scratched then your stake will be refunded unless the market was offered under an 'All In' basis in which case your bet will be settled as a loser. All racing Futures or Ante-Post markets are offered on an 'All In' basis.

Odds on

Any fixed price which is shorter than $2.00.

Quinella

To win the Quinella you are required to correctly select the two runners that finish 1st and 2nd in a race, in any order. These are only available to be boxed only.

Parlay

A cumulative series of bets in which winnings accruing from each transaction are used as a stake for a further bet.

Payout

The Payout is the full amount you receive on a winning bet. The Payout on a bet is worked out by multiplying the stake of your bet with the odds.

Place Only

A place only bet is a bet on your selection to place. Your bet will be settled as a winner if your selection finishes in the number of places designated for the market.

Protest

When a Jockey, Owner, Trainer or Steward alleges interference by one party against another during a race that may have affected the outcome of a race. If a protest is upheld by stewards, the runner that caused the interference is placed directly after the horse interfered with. If a protest is dismissed, the original result of the race stands.

Profit

The Profit for a bet is the total payout minus your initial stake. When you view past bets, you will notice that only the profit on a bet is shown. This is so that you do not have two entries for one bet and makes reviewing your bets much simpler.

Please note: all winning bets are paid out in full (Stake and profit).

Scratch/Scratching

When a runner withdraws from a race before it begins.

Single

A single bet on one selection.

SP

'Dabble Starting Price' (DSP) is last price offered by Dabble prior to the race closing. If you place a racing bet without taking the fixed odds offered your bet will be settled using the Dabble Starting Price.

Stake

The Stake of a bet is simply the amount you wish to bet. When betting on some markets (such as exotics and multi's) you can choose to enter ether a Total Stake or a Unit Stake.

Total Stake

Total Stake is the total amount you wish to bet on a single wager. When betting on exotic bet types you can elect to enter a total stake and we will work out the percentage of a normal unit you will receive in the event of a winning bet.

Trifecta

You need to pick the first three finishers, in correct order. You can also choose to Box these.

Trots

A common term for Harness Racing.

Win-Draw-Win

This refers to the three possible outcomes of a sports fixture (Team A win, draw and Team B win).

Profile

Avatar

A feature that allows you to select your own icon or symbol to display on your social profile.

A promoted bet that when copied will allow a user to claim up to a specified amount of cash back on the selected bet if it loses. You can check this out here.

Copy Bet Head to Head Battle - (profile vs profile)

Multiple promoted profiles from Dabble will have competing bets in the same event. This will be based on your first copy from one of these promoted profiles (one copy bet per event). You can check this out here.

NTRWC

The Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission. The NTRWC regulate Dabble and assist in resolving disputes that cannot be settled between a bookmaker and a customer.

Self-Exclusion

If you feel your gambling is becoming a serious problem, you can select to be permanently self-exclude. Dabble will close your account permanently and you will not be able to reopen it again. You can check out how to do this here.

Take a Break

Take a Break allows customers to exclude themselves from betting for a set period. During the exclusion period, you will not be able to use your Dabble betting account for any reason but can still use the social functions. You can check how to action this here.
