What is Chats?

Chats is a new feature on Dabble that lets you chat and bet with your friends and followers in a private, closed environment. With Chats, you can message each other (with instant notifications), share images and see and copy each others bets with ease.

Chats is a great way to bring your punting banter and betting into one place with your mates, without the restriction of a shared wallet. You can pick and choose the bets you want to copy from your friends, put a stake on it that suits you and share the ride together.

Your group, your bets, your way!

What features does Chats have?

Chats is an easy to use messaging feature that lets you send direct messages to another Dabbler or group of Dabblers. Group Chat lets you:

  • Create a private Group with up to 20 other people

  • Invite your followers to a Chat

  • Invite your friends to a Chat with an invite link

  • Chat and message each other with instant notifications

  • Send an image to your group (no naughty photos please)

  • See the groups Last 20 bets

  • Copy group members bets within the group

  • Mute a group to stop receiving notifications

  • Pin a message to the group to broadcast a message (Admin only)

Who can I invite to a Chat?

If you create a Chat, you become the Admin and therefore the only person who can invite other people to the Chat. As the Admin, you can invite:

  • Anyone that is following you
If you don’t follow them back, they will receive an invite to the chat group where they can choose to accept it or decline the invite.

  • Your friends & family
You can share the invite link in your group settings with anyone you like. If they don’t have a Dabble account, they will be sent to the AppStore (iOS) / Google Play (Android) where they can download the app and register an account. Once registered, they can accept the invite to your Chat and you can starting chatting away

How many people can I invite to a chat?

Currently, you can invite up to 20 other people to your Chat. If you invite or try to add more than 20, the 21st and beyond person will not be able to join the Chat.

There is also a limit of 30 Chats per customer.

What can Admins do that group members can’t?

An Admin is generally the person who created the chat and therefore has extra features to manage the group. An Admin is able to:

  • Update the chat name, description and avatar.

  • Add people to the chat.

  • Remove people from the chat.

  • Delete the chat.

Group Members do not have these features, however can:

  • Mute the chat – stop receiving notifications from a chat until you Unmute

  • Leave a chat

Can group members see my bets?

Yes, we’ve included a Bets feed in your Chat so that you can easily see bets placed and resulted from all of the people in your Chat. This makes it easy to copy each others bets, celebrate the wins and commiserate the losses together.

Once you are part of a chat, all chat members will be able to see any Pending Bets and bet that wins from the point the chat starts. They will also be able to see the Last 20 resulted bets from chat members.

Note: If you have a private profile, group members will be able to see your bets even if they are not following you. You can still hide bets from your Profile page and they will not show in Chats.

If you leave a chat, your bets will no longer display to the group.

How do I stop someone from inviting me to Chats?

Users are able to invite any of their followers to a chat. If you want to stop being invited by someone, simply unfollow them and they will not be able to add you to a Chat.

Are Chats monitored?

To ensure we maintain a safe environment for all of our customers, we use moderation technology as defined in our Community Guidelines. This includes block list words and image auto-moderation that will prevent a message from being sent if it is deemed to go against our community guidelines.

Users are also able to Flag messages if they are concerned about what is being said so that our moderation technology can assist in determining if action needs to be taken.

Because of this, we encourage all customers to use Chats in line with our Community Guidelines. If the guidelines are not followed, Users run the risk of either temporary or permanent bans.

What should I not do in Chats?

We’ve created Chats so that Users can enjoy bantering and betting with their friends and followers on Dabble in a fun and safe environment. Because of that, we encourage all Users to be aware of what they share in Chats and strongly encourage staying away from doing the following things, as they do not meet our Community Guidelines.

  • Sending personal address and phone details

  • Sending financial information such as bank, credit card and PayID details

  • Referencing racism, sexuality, violence or adult material

  • Sharing adult, provocative, threatening or offensive images and messages

Can I leave a Chat?

Of course. Simply view the chat settings by tapping the name of the Chat in the header of the app and tap Leave Chat. You will be removed from that chat instantly.

Please note: Any messages that you’d previously sent stay within the chat after leaving a chat.

What if I Take a Break or Self-Exclude myself?

If you take a break on Dabble, you will still be part of the chat, however as per take a break requirements you will not be able to bet on Dabble. You will also not receive any notifications when a message is sent.

If you self-exclude yourself on the National Register then your account will be closed and you will no longer have access to the groups you were in.
